Ingredients for Cheesy, Savory Oatmeal:

1 Cup Rolled Oats
2 Cups Water
1 Cup Shredded Cheddar Cheese
½ Cup Kimchi, chopped ( Store-bought)
2 Tbsp Butter
½ Cup Spring Onions, chopped
2 cloves Garlic, minced
¼ Cup Milk (Optional)
Salt and Pepper to taste

Method for Cheesy, Savory Oatmeal:

  • In a saucepan, bring 2 cups of water to a boil.
  • Add the rolled oats and reduce the heat to a simmer. Cook the oats according to the package instructions, usually about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally until they are tender and have absorbed most of the water.
  • While the oats are cooking, melt the butter in a separate skillet over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and chopped green onions, and sauté for 2-3 minutes until they become fragrant and slightly softened.
  • Once the oats are cooked, stir in the shredded cheddar cheese and chopped kimchi. Continue to cook, stirring, until the cheese is melted and the kimchi is heated through.
  • If you prefer a creamier texture, you can add 1/4 cup of milk and stir until well combined. Adjust the milk amount to your desired consistency.
  • Season the oatmeal with salt and black pepper to taste. Keep in mind that kimchi can be salty, so taste before adding more salt.
  • Serve the cheesy, savory oatmeal with a garnish of extra green onions or a dollop of kimchi on top, if desired.

Enjoy your unique and delicious cheesy, savory oatmeal with kimchi!
